A WRITER, A VISIONARY, A STORYTELLER SHAPING CINEMA
Los Angeles—Few filmmakers today are redefining storytelling quite like Sahil Juneja. The Gujarat-born writer, director, producer and founder of Chanting Yogi Motion Pictures has captivated audiences with his emotionally charged narratives and unconventional storytelling techniques. From his early days in India to making a mark in Hollywood, Juneja’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary.
In this exclusive conversation, we dive deep into his creative process, his perspective on the evolving film industry, and his growing recognition as an award-winning writer.

“I WRITE FROM WHAT I OBSERVE, AND THAT MAKES IT REAL”
Interviewer: Sahil, let’s start with your beginnings. What was the moment you knew you wanted to be a storyteller?
Sahil Juneja: It was never one defining moment—it was a series of realizations. Growing up in Gujarat, I was surrounded by stories in all forms—films, books, conversations overheard in crowded tea stalls. But it was watching Pather Panchali that made me realize how deeply a story can connect with people. That was when I understood that storytelling wasn’t just entertainment; it was a reflection of life.
“DIGITAL PLATFORMS HAVE CHANGED THE GAME”
Interviewer: The industry is shifting rapidly. Streaming has opened new doors, but also new challenges. How do you see this transformation?
Sahil Juneja: The way people consume stories has changed dramatically. Today, audiences crave depth, authenticity, and unique perspectives. Theatrical releases used to be the ultimate goal, but now digital platforms have democratized storytelling. A film made by an independent filmmaker in Mumbai can be watched in New York within minutes of its release. That’s the kind of accessibility I love. But it also means there’s more noise. You have to create something truly exceptional to stand out.
“BEING RECOGNIZED FOR MY WRITING IS THE BIGGEST HONOR”
Interviewer: Your recent projects, particularly Surprise and Unconscious Reality, have gained immense recognition in film festivals worldwide. How does it feel to be celebrated, especially as a writer?
Sahil Juneja: Writing is the backbone of any film. It’s the blueprint that shapes everything—the emotions, the arcs, the themes. To be acknowledged for my writing is deeply personal. It reassures me that my words, my vision, are resonating with people. At festivals, when I hear someone say my script made them feel something they can’t put into words, that’s more rewarding than any trophy.
“MY UPCOMING PROJECTS WILL CHALLENGE THE WAY STORIES ARE TOLD”
Interviewer: Can you share what’s next for you?
Sahil Juneja: Absolutely. I currently have six exciting projects in pre-production, all set to go into production soon. These include:
● I Am Eshu, a chilling horror/thriller.
● Death Can Wait, an Indian zombie horror/thriller that blends suspense with high-stakes action.
● Sittu, a 90’s Indian romantic comedy that evokes nostalgia while exploring themes of love and humor.
● Post to Fame, a coming-of-age animated short film that dives into the complexities of growing up and finding your place in the world.
● Kevin VS Biggie, a light-hearted animated cartoon with a comedic and adventurous tone.
● Call Me An Assassin, a gripping crime drama TV pilot that brings a dark, suspenseful atmosphere.
In addition to these, I’m working on a feature film—a coming-of-age romance drama—exploring love, identity, and the search for purpose in a world that often feels uncertain. It’s a deeply emotional narrative, and I can’t wait to bring it to life.
“TELL STORIES THAT MATTER”
Interviewer: For aspiring writers and filmmakers, what’s your biggest advice?
Sahil Juneja: Don’t chase trends—chase authenticity. Stories that come from a place of truth always find their audience. Also, don’t be afraid to fail. Every failure is just a scene in your bigger narrative. Keep writing, keep creating, and never stop observing the world around you—that’s where the real stories are.
“CHASING MAGIC, CREATING REALITY”
Interviewer: Before we wrap up, do you have any parting thoughts you’d like to share?
Sahil Juneja: To me, cinema is magic. It’s an art form that transports you, makes you feel, and allows you to experience a world beyond your own. It’s this magic that drives me, and I believe anyone who steps into the world of filmmaking should carry that same sense of wonder. The path to realizing your dreams won’t always be easy, but never give up on them. No matter how tough it gets, keep moving forward, and stay true to what ignites your passion. Do anything and everything, but never let go of what makes you who you are
